Picture
Allan Mullins, Chair of the Panel
Allan Mullins is somewhat of a legend in the wine industry and has garnered much respect for his knowledge of wine and spirits. He has been called "the most influential personality in South African wine" (Grape Magazine) and has been rated as having "a razor-sharp palate, sharper than any knife in Gordon Ramsay's kitchen" (Neil Pendock, wine writer). Apart from being the wine wizard at Woolworths (SA) Wine Department for the last 23 years he has been involved in every aspect of wine in South Africa. He is highly respected as a judge, a writer, a tasting presenter and a wine lecturer, and his reputation extends internationally.

Tinashe Nyamudoka
Tinashe Nyamudoka is the head Sommelier and beverage manager at acclaimed restaurant The Test Kitchen.  In 7 years he has developed a very impressive wine CV as he says himself, "wine is my passion, wine is my life. If it wasn't for wine I wouldn't be where I am today." When asked what it's like being head Sommelier of the 28th best restaurant in the world, he says, "it's surreal. It's exciting and scary at times, but mostly it's fun and challenging. It's amazing." We hope Tinashe will feel the same way about judging rosé wine!

Marthelize Tredoux
Marthelize Tredoux is a seasoned writer on winemag.co.za and works with a company which exports SA wines to the USA.  In 2013 she won the inaugural Veritas Young Wine Writer award. This is Marthelize's first time judging a wine competition. She is over the moon and is busy preparing herself for this auspicious moment in her life. As she says herself, "I am mad for rosé wine and I think it's shocking the way it hasn't had a chance to bask in the limelight." We couldn't agree with you more, Marthelize.

Malu Lambert
Malu Lambert is established freelance food and wine journalist who has written for: Good Taste, Food & Home, Sunday Times, Classic Wine, Eat Out, Chef’s Magazine, WOSA and more.  A natural born storyteller she happens to enjoy telling stories about the worlds of food and wine the most (you like what you like!) She also owns a story-telling agency, Fable, which works with high-end food, wine and hospitality brands; telling their unique stories in a variety of digital formats. This foray into the world of wine judging is a dream come true for Malu as she’s just completed her WSET Level 3 exams and is building an exciting portfolio of wines as a private merchant.  And luckily for us, she sees the world through rosé-coloured glasses.

Tatiana Marcetteau
Tatiana Marcetteau is a Wine Sommelier in the European tradition. Being French, she has a special affinity with rosé wine. Tatiana has worked in a swathe of 5 star establishments in South Africa and wears her Sommelier bunch of grapes lapel pin with pride. No stranger to wine competitions, Tatiana is flexing her taste buds for this line up of rosé wines. How could we have a panel of judges judging the first ever rose wine competition in South Africa without including a French person. Provence would be considered by some to be the spiritual home of rosé wine, so luckily for us Tatiana has stepped up to the plate.

Shante Hutton
Shante Hutton has been closely involved with the wine industry for the past four years. She was the editor of Wine.co.za, South Africa's 'go-to' wine reference guide until this year, and left recently to focus on wine writing and judging. Last year she judged on the Nedbank Green Awards panel and is tickled pink to be dedicating her taste buds to finding South Africa’s top Rosés.

Neil Pendock has been writing about wine for over 30 years and has judged wines all over the world. This year alone Neil has judged competitions in France, Italy and Solvenia. Apart from his blog at neilpendock.com, Neil also writes a weekly wine column for The Times newspaper. No need to be scared, Neil, we'll hold your hand!

Praisy Dlamini
Praisy Dlamini is an accomplished winemaker and studied at Elsenburg Agricultural College and went on to become the first woman Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé in 2008. She has judged numerous red and white wine competitions but this is a first for Praisy, judging only rosé wines. Praisy sees the way that young people are interested in drinking rosé wine internationally and now in South Africa, and feels this is a fantastic way to get millennials to engage with wine. She also notes that there is significant growth in this market for rosé sales. It's always good to have a winemaker's unique perspective on a judging panel. Thanks Praisy for coming on board!
